Let’s not overlook that moment with the Swiss banker where Erik notices the photo of the little child on the banker’s desk. He very likely was intending to kill the banker when he first arrived, but ultimately he doesn’t, because of that photo. No amount of hatred or disgust or vengeance can drive him to become the reason a child is orphaned like he was.
